Well defined.....

Somehow it is not that surprising that my own two kids show up in the dictionary’s definitions of the following words.

ob·serv·ant
–adjective
1. Brooke Munson
2. Quick to notice or perceive; alert.
3. Looking at, watching, or regarding attentively; watchful.
careful in the observing of a law, custom, religious ritual, or the like.
–noun
4. an observer of law or rule.

This couldn’t be more apparent to me on so many occasions. Brooke is the kid that you will find at a gathering full of kids only to be mingling with the group of adults for hopes that she will catch a conversation or a glimpse of something she knows wasn’t intended for her. She is ALWAYS listening to a conversation that is separate from what she is doing, and she is absorbing and understanding everything. I always view Brooke as an old soul, she gets along with grown ups as well as she gets along with her peers and she truly understands things beyond her years, sometimes to her parents dislike. I cringe when I get involved in an “adult conversation” and she is within ear shot. She is always making note of how that must make people feel, who is doing things right or wrong, are things being done in the right order, almost to a fault sometimes. But on the same token I really respect my silent observer on so many levels. She knows where to go to learn what people aren’t willing to let her know yet and does it on the down low; she is clever, and smart. I usually watch this occur and stay silent as I am well aware of what she is doing, I just pray that she uses all the knowledge that she gains in a productive manner.

par·tic·u·lar
–adjective
1. Brady Munson
2. distinguished or different from others or from the ordinary; noteworthy; marked; unusual:
3. exceptionally selective, attentive, or exacting; fastidious; fussy:

This I am sure could be said about any toddler testing waters and wanting things their way. But I have said it from the beginning, Brady is a bit different, and I don’t necessarily mean it in a bad way. He is definitely a creature of habit and likes things in a certain fashion that he is “comfortable with”. He knows his boundaries and stays with in them, until only HE decides when he is ready to step outside those lines. He loves to pretend and be in his own little world, he could play by himself for hours and be completely satisfied. He is always morphing into some sort of character or talking to imaginary friends and plastic figurines. He is only down right picky regarding one thing – FOOD- it will be a struggle that will continue and I can visualize myself sitting in that chair being forced to eat just “one more bite” and as much as I hated it, I continue to make him do it……I can’t wait until he starts hiding it under his tongue and being excused to go to the bathroom, thankfully we don’t have a dog! He gets frustrated very easily and is proving to be quite stubborn. He knows what he wants and doesn’t…. that is for sure, but at least he is polite. The other day I picked him up from school and saw a poster with all the kids answers of how many animal crackers were in the jar, Brady’s answer that was written on the board was “No, Thank you I don’t want to do it now” But as particular as this little man is he is the most affectionate cuddly creature on earth and I wouldn’t trade it for all his quirks in the world.
