Camping 2013

Another camping trip under our belts, this year we tried Grand Haven (which worked out great for dog sitting......thank you Grandma!) We had a great time with great friends and these kids continue to amaze me at how well they all get along and how independent they are getting! I hope they remember these memories and these friends for a long time.

The whole gang.
Warm days and cold nights = perfect weather.
Brooke and Luci snuggling after a swim.
Darrell introduced a fun new yard/sand game.
Waiting for activity #498 at the community center
A little one on one with dad......
Driving to the hoop.
I love that these two have no awkward boy/girl things.....they get together and it's game on.
Rough housing in the pool...
Brady man going down.....
These two are stuck like glue when ever they are together!
They are very similar souls.
While all four of these are completely different souls....but somehow it clicks.
Mom's trying to avoid the cold pool water.
As luck would have it, it was Halloween weekend at the campground. So we also added to the agenda, a costume contest, haunted trail walk (which was so fun to watch it was no joke as they literally chased these kids with running chain saws in the dark.....lets just say Brady became a Koala type fixture to the front of me, even Brooke said "wow I didn't expect it to be THAT scary"), trick or treating, monster mash dance......heck if the pool and the arcade could have sufficed.

Gotta love a hoodie that can double as a costume.
That is not face paint for his costume - it is straight up dirt.......gotta love camping.
Getting ready for the costume contest....Brooke went as a soccer player.
Our own Luci Lou walked away with best costume!
Kids got to go site to site collecting candy.....don't think I hadn't noticed they have these cottages for next year as we are one of the last tent families in our group!
Some of the more permanent sites really went all out for the Halloween decorations. It is apparently a big deal around here, our campsite had not one decoration.....behind the eight ball, you bettcha!
We were able to spend a beautiful day out on Lake Michigan.
Sand and water what else do you need.
Sandy hair and tangles.....Brooke's summertime go to style!
Drops of fresh goodness....
We all braved the "monster mash" dance.....it looks like Brooke is out there willingly but trust me it took a lot to get her out there she is not one for public displays of embarrassment.
unlike every other kid.....who was dancing the night away.....
Two peas in a pod, lets be honest both of them hated being on that dance floor.
So everyone pitched in to keep dragging her back!
No escaping from this group!
One of the rare times she will let me hold her....although I have to admit it is harder than I remember...man she is getting big!
And that my friends was our weekend camping in Grand Haven.

Day Trip With Dad

We took a day trip out to Silver Lake while dad was in visiting. The kids were fired up to show him the dune rides.
Waiting for our turn at the Mac Dunes.....
Load em' up......
Scenic stop....
Riding the hills.....
A stop at Lake Michigan.
Taking advantage of photo opps.
Brooke and Grandpa....
We climbed to the top of this lighthouse. 139 steps.....

A few banged heads but we made it to the top.

Dune running....
I knew I wouldn't be able to escape this place as it is centered right smack in the middle of everything we were doing. Grandpa and Brooke buckling up.....
Go Speed Racer....Go......
Capped of the day with a zip line ride, I was going to go with Brooke and at the final minute Brady jumped in the seat....I said okay, let's see how this goes.....
I think the face says it all.....he didn't back out but the eyebrows are concerned.
But then in a twisted fate it is one Brooklyn Munson grabbing for her brother's hand!
B: "We will be fine"
M: "you sure about that"  (I love the doubting looks...)

 Here they go......
Quick stop at a farmers market......
And that my friends was a random Wednesday at Silver Lake.
You only live once (YOLO)
