Sportscenter

duh nah nah nah nah (that's my best take on the intro to Sportscenter.) It's spring and its that time of year, sports four nights a week and a lot of parent taxi-ing around town. Both kids are having a great time this season and here are the highlights.....

BRADY
Brady continues to do swimming and is graduating to yet another level, swimming on his stomach and back and treading water.....Halleluiah we are finally rounding the corner! He also moved up to the next level in soccer, think bigger kids, goalies and weekly practices. Brady is the young munchkin on the team but holding his own with 8 year olds....

He has some really good team mates and are undefeated to date, also a really young cool coach that the kids seem to look up to.
Brady sporting his "green acid" team smile.
Maybe watching all his sisters game behind that DS is paying off, he seems to get right in the mix of things

 Big kicks......
 and big stops....

And big kids....it was great to see Brady battle kids twice his size.
Thankfully Brady was much more focused on the field this year, it's almost like he wanted to prove himself to these older boys......but off the field it was business as usual.....as the next three pictures show.

Nothing like celebrating a big win with one of his favorites!

BROOKLYN

Brookie remains on the same travel team she was on in the fall. A great group of fun girls that have been having a great time together! Unfortunately their team's record is the exact opposite of Brady, but the girls never seem to let it get them down.

This was the team at their tourney in Lansing...

Brooke still enjoys playing goalie (not mom and dads favorite position to watch)
Fun smiles of excited girls after a goal.

Brooke's team just played a tourney up in Traverse City, and it brought back a lot of fond memories of traveling round and round to games for me in my younger years. I just remember having such fun with my teammates on and off the field and I think Brooke could say the same with her first overnight out of town tourney!
Coach was nice enough to make signs for all the girls hotel doors (seems little but the girls loved it)
 Game face on....
Remember what I said having fun on and OFF the field....we stayed at a water park hotel.....what could be better for these kids.....

Siblings included....Brady actually thanked Brooke for playing soccer, so he could come with.
He also gave a little revenge to the girls for making him sit through all those games....
The girls soaking their bones in the hot tub.
Braving the big bucket of water that dumped every five minutes....
And we will go ahead and call this our shower for the day.
Why not have a random Raccoon roam the halls of the hotel?
Magic quest was had and loved by the kids, I think they liked roaming the halls by themselves more than they liked the actual game.
Dinner out with all the parents to celebrate the girls....
Kids keeping themselves entertained as none of the parents wanted to leave and give up a 80 degree day in TC out on a Mexican restaurant's deck.

Brooke celebrating her HAT TRICK after the last game and going out with a win! (We have been hinting to her to give up goalie a bit, and look what happened when she did!) Way to go B!

And this my friend, is what 600 tickets and  2.5 days in a hotel arcade will get you. Most expensive googgly glasses EVER.

So after 5 games in 5 days in Grand Haven, TC, and Caledonia This little one had it. He fell asleep smack dab in the middle of the game at 6pm and did not wake up until school the next day.

duh....nah...nah.nah..nah......brought to you by Sportsceneter.

Reminders......

As if we need them, but I laugh to myself sometimes how much I am reminded that I am in fact a parent and these two little munchkins rule the roost! For example.....

Sometimes I try to enjoy a hot shower and pretend I am in some luxurious spa until I remember I have both this creepy alien guy as well as some mildew starting back at me.
Sometimes kid projects or random decorations will stay put for 6 months at a time because you don't even notice them anymore or want to think about cleaning them up.
Sometimes life becomes a balancing act......little sleep and not enough time to exercise results in this as my lunch.
The fact that we load, unload, and wash a load EVERY SINGLE day. You think we were a full staffed kitchen....
The fact that the sink more often than not, is coated in a blue minty substance, and usually gets taken care of when we no longer see any white.
I NEVER leave the house without 5-7 bags in tow....
The sink right now is definitely dictating the sports season......water bottles galore.
Sometimes when your little guy goes to bed in regular pajamas he ends up asleep in this when you go check on him prior to hitting the pillow yourself.
Sometimes I look at my "George Costanza" planner and think this is the only way I can keep my three kids school, social, sports, work, schedules and paperwork organized. To all you I phone calendars laughing at this right now.....go ahead, but I ain't fixing what ain't broke! Even though the width of the thing is alarming at times.
There also may be times when i am running around the house to find my tank top "insert" only to find it is already being occupied as a yarmulke, during reading time.

I am sure these reminders will change over time and become different in form, however at this moment they are what I am finding myself noticing in the life of a parent.

True Story.

In the midst of the hustle and bustle of getting ready for school this morning......

Mom: "Hey bub, its gonna be really warm out today, don't you want to wear shorts?"
Brady: "nope"
Mom: "You sure? Remember I asked you and you said it was hot in your class yesterday because you didn't wear shorts"
Brady: "Yes but Mom, there is no such thing as "Shorts Simmons" I am wearing "Genes"

End of discussion.
