The Fourth.

There is nothing that says Happy Birthday America like 104 degrees and a day full of outdoor activities.....But we (meaning anyone above the age of 10) tried to wear our patriotic cheery faces and think cool thoughts......

We made sure we sported our colors.....(and a lot of sunscreeen!)

Jake with random patriotic footwear.

We got to take our cousins to all the festivities....

Candy was in abundance....with a 16 year old helping your cause....

Next year kids will try and join the bike portion of the parade!
 Lexi flipping on the bungee.
Brady getting some air....on the bounce slide....

Experiencing the first year that fireworks were sold in Michigan.....

Then attending the real ones.....and realizing how insignificant ours were.

Weekend Cheese Head

We were able to sneak away to the Badger State a few weekends ago......We double dipped and logged in a Brewer game and some fantastic people watching at my old stomping grounds Summerfest.

Tailgating with the die hard Brewer fans in the 95 degree heat.....they didn't falter.....I think us Michiganders were the only ones complaining about the heat!

Grabbed some time with the German Sausage....sadly he was no competition for the Brat.

Found some really die hard fans with their own Mystery Machine.
Miller Park.

Chris creepily stalked Trammel and Gibby all night.

We got to walk the lake shore - see the art museum....

Cool off at the beach.....
Bike the lake shore on this fun little ride......let's just say we got our workout in when we realized Todd had the brake on half the time.....
Then we joined the music festivities at Summerfest and drummed with these folks....the band line up wasn't to great that night so we thought we would give it a whirl.....

His Happy Place.

You never know where life will take you......Case in point......Friday night the phone rings at 10 pm.....and we get an invite to a black tie charity event the following day to support The Calvin Johnson Scholarship Foundation....most women would start sweating and hyperventilating at the thought of pulling together a black tie outfit in less than 8 hours ......Chris Munson on the other hand only heard "Calvin Johnson" and said YES, just tell me where. So we dropped off kids, went shopping for things that were black in our neighbors houses and rolled out to the "D" for the event. Chris thought maybe he wold be able to sneak by and meet Mr. Calvin, but low and behold it was just a handful of people and Calvin's family. Chris' face = smiles.

So we got all nice and purty and hit the town.

Then we met very large strong men.....Chris wold do this post more justice....but really they were just big strong men to me. If i remember correctly these were new recruits that were doing "door duty"
I think this guy's name is Javid......and all I remember Chris mentioning was the comparison of his bicep to his thigh.....
I am not sure what they were chatting about......but Chris found something to hold the convo.
Chris got his wish....a very nice and humble guy.
I sort of felt like I had to.....I think Chris would have killed me if i declined. Especially after I held down his hand in a vice like grip during the live auction portion of the night.....I mean I don't think our basement can withstand another item.

Chris and Calvin.

And a big Thanks to Mr. Matt for the invite!
