Our Sporty Spice...

Brooke continues to love her team sports. She loves being part of a group and surrounded by friends, sometimes I wonder if she actually loves the game or the girl comradely? Either way she continues to enjoy her soccer team who went to compete in the Traverse City Tournament, last year they didn't win one game, this year they took home second place in their age bracket, so that was fun to watch!

Brady also folded into the Rapids umbrella this spring but unfortunately his first tournament was spent like this.
He fell on the playground at school right before we were set to leave, had a nice tennis ball size egg on his ankle and couldn't put any pressure on it. So he cheered his team on from the sidelines.

Four weeks later he still has trouble running hard on it, so off we went to get xrays (we knew it wasn't broken but I didn't want to miss anything) No fractures, growth plate is in place, sprains can take up to 8 weeks to fully heal, so taking it easy isn't easy for a 7 year old boy but we are trying.

Brooke also did track this year and got to end the season with a meet at the fancy big high school track.

Work sponsored the event so she was hoping to get on our website with this doosey.

These girls were anxious to compete.

I am not sure what made her select her events but she signed up for the 2 mile run and the mile relay. Quite ambitious I thought for a 10 year old. Also quite annoying as it was the first event and the last  event of a 3.5 hour track meet.

You couldn't have paid me to run two miles at that age, running was only something that was secondary to doing something else, but these four representatives took it on full force.

She quickly learned that eight laps around a track is quite a lot, but she hung tough and finished it out!

She crossed the finish line with a pretty impressive time for the first time ever!

Then we had to wait 2.5 hours until her next event....oh vey.....
Next up was the mile relay with her buds.
I love this next series of pix as her coach is trying to explain that they need to stay in their lane until a certain point until they can cut in on the inside of the track......Brooke clearly didn't get it.....

And there it is the light bulb just went on.....hahaha.
Brooke ran the first leg of the race and did great.
Off she goes.....
Coming in to hand off the baton to her teammate.

Cheering on Ruthie (aka wheels) who brought it home lapping some other kids.
Girls celebrating as they took home first place!

4 happy and accomplished girls!!
Congratulations!!!

Mother's Day.

We spent Mother's day in Detroit, I joked to Chris that it would only make sense that Father's day included a massage and pedicures.  We had a great day in the "D" this was the first year that the kids didn't even request to do any of the "kid" stuff, they actually just sat and watched the game. Its happening people......we had our rally caps on in the 9th inning but to no avail, Tigers blew it at the end.

My tigers heading into the game.

Lunch at Hockeytown.

Someone excited and fully uniformed for the game!

We got to go down on the field for the kids to run the bases (I guess they did pick one kid thing to do!)

Thanks for a great day out!

April 2014.

As I am slowly catching up....here is what kept us busy in April (or what I can remember!)

I am not even quite sure how this started, but the gauntlet was thrown because we don't frequent church that in order to do our civic duty on Easter Chris would do the following......
Chris and I ran and the kids biked about 2 miles ahead of us out of sheer embarrassment. You would be amazed how many thumbs up, honks, and waves we got as people made their way to the steeple. Then the kids decided to stay close by as dad was "semi cool" for randomly spreading the Easter joy???
We headed out to Grandma Munson's for Easter, and this was the Easter outfit compromise from Brady. I think he is smiling because he kind of won the compromise.
Roxy found another old Viszla on the beach that lives just a few houses down. This one was so calm and chilled we felt hopeful for our own sake until they told us she was 10 years old. 9 more to go.  Oh yeah take note the ice chunks still in existence in April.
Our pretty girl catching some rays.

Chris' 40 and over hockey team managed to bring home the championship again!

Payoff for all the aches and pains .......

Brady continued to enjoy cub scouts - they got to do a lot of cool stuff this year. That's him in the green shirt in the ambulance.

They went to a broadcast at a radio station.
Brooke got to join in on this tour. Hopefully this will be her only time in that vehicle!

April brought on many hopes and dreams of a Stanley cup but to no avail......
I just wanted to document that both my kids were not in athletic shorts for a short period of time.

Brooke had a tourney in Lansing.....
They didn't win one game but always have a blast, and their poor coach is so compliant with them. This was a surprise they made him eat out of all the leftovers from lunch at Applebees.....

Roxy ran into yet another Viszla at the dog park - this one 3 months younger than her. They went BANANAS to say the least. we couldn't even tell them apart they were in hog heaven.
Then finally Brady was unassisted in his rollover and advanced to the next lane for swim lessons.
