First Day Facts.

  • The kids were bananas about starting school!
  • I was so proud of them for being so excited!
  • Brooke has become a mother hen. i.e. “Now Brady let me walk you through our morning of Big Kid School…..we have to get downstairs and eat breakfast, then get dressed and then brush our teeth by 8:00, don’t worry I will help you with everything today”

  • Brooke FINALLY getting to wear her first day outfit she picked out and has been sitting on for a month!
  • Brady not even complaining about me dressing him up for chess club, too excited!
  • Brady could have cared less that they switched his teacher AGAIN three days before school started and after he had orientation.
  • Brooke was excited to wake up and find out that she didn’t really grow a monkey tail and monkey ears, as I told her might happen now that she is a Meyer Monkey.
  • Wondering how I just became a parent with two kids in school?

  • They both were nervously acting cool and asking me to stop taking pictures as they are sitting at their desks. Brady even whispered to me as I was giving him his 1,000th kiss…… “Mom….Whatever…..I know you love me” ha-ha.

  • I was a little lonely driving to work by myself for the first time in 5 years.
  • I was a little happy that I was listening to what I wanted, even if that was pure silence as I drove myself to work, something that hasn’t happened in 5 years.
  • I wish I could have froze time as both of them came off the bus running and smiling ear to ear!

  • Brady talked to us about his day for a full 20 minutes straight, more than he has discussed his last five years with us. He even proclaimed as he came home “I am not even watching TV, I have so much to tell you guys” For those of you who know the addict that is huge.
  • First day of school is exhausting, after his 20 minute rant about his day and Brooke started in on hers, I wondered where the heck did Brady go? This is where he went……
  • Brooke initiating that we have to get upstairs and start her reading and homework.
  • Two happy, lucky parents with the first day of School behind them and both kids in one location for the next three years!
