Mini Vacation - Day Three.....

Okay enough relaxing time by the pool....its go time! The next two days are filled with theme parks from sun up until sun down.
First stop Universal Studios and Islands of Adventures.
(because of course they split it up into two parks so you have to buy a ticket for each)
We opted for this just because its always fun to try somewhere new, as exciting as Disney can be I don't enjoy doing the same thing over and over. We also chose this as the kids really got into Harry Potter this summer and I kept hearing how great it was and wanted to see if the Best New Attraction and Best Dark Ride awards were accurate.

In hind sight I wish we would have made this our second park day as the rides are more grown up and a bit intimidating, they were much more apt to try new things on the second day.

Universal was a character play land for Brady, it had all his favorites, Transformers, Harry Potter, all the Marvel super heroes....It was his Disney World of princesses for him if you will!
They would periodically swap out which transformer was taking pictures they were HUGE and really cool for this bug to see in person.
Snow white, nope. Cinderella, nope. Ariel, nope Bumble Bee, yup.
We got to meet Sponge Bob, We got more character shots in one hour than we did all last trip to Disney.
This was the dog from Marley and Me, not that they know what that movie is....they just thought the dog tricks were cool.
Not sure why? Sometimes you just feel obligated.
Little water rides......
Big water rides....
ha-ha-ha-HA-ha ha-ha-ha-HA-ha ha-ha-ha-HA-ha
Woody Woodpecker coaster.
Brooke never seemed to have trouble finding stuff at the gift shops....

Dr. Seuss land......

One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish.
Missing Roxy......
Brady and Wolverine.
Spiderman was one of our favorite rides too, and I wish Brooke would have given the Hulk a try, it was intimidating to look at but SO much fun for Chris and I.

And then there was Harry. It did not disappoint. It really was a great ride and the whole Hogwart land was spot on and really life like (guess who else got into the Harry Potter movies this summer?) The technology these rides use now a days is unbelievable, gone are the days of Ferris wheels and bumper cars.

Main street at Hogwarts.....get it shivering from the cold.
This was really cool it felt like you were in the movie, of course they still were pretending to be cold...
Platform 9 3/4
Hogwarts castle....it was impressive. Part of the ride is a tour of the castle and part of it is a broomstick ride adventure, even part of a Quidditch game all in 3D.

Professor Dumbledore himself....

Worth the trip, definitely.
